The Story of Filgaia

This is a summary of the story of Filgaia. The first half is backstory, the second summarizes the events of the game.

A long, long time ago, Filgaia was a lush, green world under the protection of the Guardians. Human and Elw lived together pretty much in harmony, along with the other magical beings, such as Wind Mice. All was well and good and cool until they invaded.

"They" were the Metal Demons. Commanded by their queen, Mother, they threw the world into utter chaos! Human, Elw, and Guardian fought against the demons to protect their world, but they were relentless! Soon, the Elw and the human mages (magi?) delved into the unknown to find a way to defeat the demons...

What did they come up with? First came the golems. Lolithia, Diablo, Leviathan, Barbados, Sado, Lucifer, Berial, and the Earth Golem were brought into combat to stomp the demons. Too bad the demons got ahold of another invention of the Elw...

Our world was being trashed in the course of battle, so the Elw came up with a device to restore the planet. The Metal Demons stole it and used it to give birth to more demons. That was not a good thing for the home team.

Next, the Elw and the human mages treaded where they shouldn't have, the realm of gods, with their next weapon, the Holmcross. Based on the studies of captured demons, they brought life to metal and adabpted it to the human anatomy. The results? Living machines that looked like humans. They could synchronize with many ARMs, but they ended up liking killing too much, so they were all destroyed. That is, except for one "experimental" one...

The last invention nearly destroyed the world. That invention was a blade that channeled the power of the Guardians (the Guardian Blade). When it was used in battle, not only were much of the demon's army obliterated, much of home teams' forces wee too. A huge desert cut across Filgaia from its use. That is why Mariel was left behind. She is there here atoning for her brother's sin of creating the blade and what it had done to the world.

After the demon queen's heart had been sealed into three Guardian statues, all the Elw (except for me) left this world into an artificial dimension that still is green. We thought it was all over... We were wrong.

1,000 years after the war, the demons started to make their move again, starting with reviving their queen. First, they stole her earthly remains in a siege of Arctica Castle. Only one person survived pretty much unscatched. The others were dead, except for the one known as Elmina, who Alhazad had somehow turned into the demon warrior Lady Harken. Their next step, get the Tear Drop crystal...

Unlike the seige of Arctica castle, there were survivors this time. In order to protect the surviving townspeople, the princess of Adlehyde, Cecilia, gave the crystal to the demon Belselk. Now all that was left were to break the seals on the queen's heart...

One after another, each of the statues that held the seal were destroyed, despite all the efforts of the princess and her two friends, Rudy and Jack. A town full of people (Saint Centour) fell, for Alhazad had turned them all to monsters, in the process. Only one person survived that particular incident...

Eventually, our heroes' search for a way to the demon's base lead to the discovery of a working golem (the "Earth Golem"). Upon upgrading the golem's shields ("Earth Golem 2.0"?), the bust into the demons HQ, the "Photosphere", and with the help of a man in blue robes, they reclaim the Tear Drop.

After beating the demon's queen, "Mother", our heroes discover that the one who helped them was the second-in-command of the Metal Demons. It seems that his plans and Mother's were "incompatable" at best. The enemy is still out there...

Stuff happens, the heroes get kidnapped, and the unthinkable happens: Rudy is outted as not being human. Well, maybe "outted" isn't the right word, since he didn't know it himself, but never mind. Anyway, Cecilia and Jack go with the Elw girl, Mariel, to the Elw Dimension, do a fetch quest, and get Rudy's arm fixed. Afterwards, Cecilia enters Rudy's dream, defeats a demon, summons the Guardian of Love, and it was cool.

The heroes got to Pandemonium, find out Lady Harken is in fact Elmina, destroy the antithesis to the Tear Drop, the "Darkness Tear", and are off to Arctica Castle to settle things once and for all with Elmina/Lady Harken. After Jack... er... settles things, the Guardian of Courage is summoned back to the world. Then it's on to Ka Dingel (which I think is the coolest dungeon name ever).

They got through Ka Dingel and beat Alhazad, unfortunately after Alhazad did his "strip tease". Malduke is gone through with only one hitch (the #@)(&# Mine zone and the search for the true Eye...). Zeikfried, the demon leader who was... er... "possessed" by Mother, engages them after he sends Filgaia into darkness. Mother decides to come out and engulfs Zeik. After a fight, Mother finally stays dead and with the Tear Drop, the world is saved. On the way home, Zeik pops up again and gets his ass kicked back to Hell again.

And we have a happy little end. Yippee.

That's it. Go back?
